The calculator for

What auro returns to a practice each week

Put in the practice as it is. Every figure below is arithmetic over those five fields, and the working is printed under the table. Two numbers are not yours: a 41 second average verification call and 98% of claims paid on first pass, both from the pilot practice’s own ledger. There is no return here and no multiple, because we cannot defend one for a practice we have not met.

Arithmetic over the fields above, for discussion. The two figures that are not yours are the pilot practice’s own: a 41 second average verification call and 98% of claims paid on first pass. auro guarantees no particular result; the ledger reports what happened.

How this is worked out

Five fields in, five lines out, and nothing in between that you cannot do on paper. If a line looks wrong for your practice, it is the field above it that is wrong, not the arithmetic.

  • Visits in a week

providers × visits per provider per week

That is 0 visits, and one eligibility verification for each of them, because a visit that is not verified is a claim you are guessing at.

  • Hours the practice spends on the payer line, per week

visits in a week × minutes per verification ÷ 60

Those are the front desk’s own minutes, 0 of them a week, from the field above. With auro the figure on the practice’s clock is zero: Lana dials, sits through the IVR, waits on hold and reads the benefits back. The desk reads the answer off the chart, which is not a phone call and is not counted as one.

  • Hours Lana spends on the payer line, per week

    visits in a week × 41 s ÷ 3600

41 seconds is the pilot practice’s average verification call, measured from pickup to reference number. It is shown because it is honest to show what the work costs somebody, even when that somebody is not you.

  • Claims paid on first pass, per week

    visits in a week × (100% − your denial rate), against visits in a week × 98%

98% is what the pilot reported on its own ledger. If your first pass is already better than 98%, the change column will show a loss, and we leave it showing a loss.

  • Reimbursement clearing on first pass, per visit

average reimbursement per visit × the first-pass rate

This is a rate, per visit. We do not multiply it by your visit count. A weekly dollar total reads as a return, and auro does not publish a return it cannot defend; multiply it yourself if you want one, with your own payer mix in front of you.

  • Days to close the month

half a day for the 37 checks, plus exceptions × minutes per payer call ÷ 60 ÷ 8

Monthly claims are visits in a week × 52 ÷ 12, or 0. An exception is a claim not paid on first pass: 0 a month today, 0 on auro. Each one is traced by calling the payer, at the minutes per call you entered. Half a day is the pilot’s own close, 37 checks reviewed and locked in an afternoon. Eight hours is a working day, and that is a convention, not a finding.
